Indeed, true love is left to prove itself. And that is exactly where fate steps in to play the game. For William and Sarah, that game begins with growing up, in the unspoiled mountains of Colorado. In a time and space as clear as the Rocky Mountain skies above, these young souls together learn about life, what matters most, what endures, what doesn’t, and about love. Innocent young love moves ever so surely toward lives they both can picture, lives spent loving each other in a place they know so well and cherish. Will and Sarah are ecstatically swept away in the swells of new love. And it is in their rarefied bliss that they make the fragile promise of first love, a promise that fate will soon rock and pound into doubt, guilt, and epiphany.Unexpected and unprepared, these young lovers are suddenly torn apart, first by distance, and then by the far greater pressures of temptation that test the very fidelity of their heart-held promise. No longer able to console each other, hold each other, touch each other, they face the inevitable decision: move on to other loves, or cling to the faith that they will someday be together, again. Will and Sarah stare down an unknown path, sensing destiny will not wait long before it comes to take them. Wracked with doubt, they wonder if their love was real. Caged by guilt, they both feel tempted by others intent on stealing their hearts.Fate plays hardest when love is tested. And Will and Sarah are no exception, letting go of their happy past to embrace hope for an uncharted future. Love plays hardest when fate tests. And so it is, even through their trials of the heart, Will and Sarah never really stop loving each other. Theirs is a love so real and pure that each just wants the other to find happiness, even if it's with another. But fate does not surrender so easily. Dealing blow upon blow, both Will and Sarah are each struck by jolting events that take them to the very edge of life, itself. What happens to love when life is on the line? Can they both relinquish control when love is on the line? Will fate even allow them to find out?...

I freaking loved this book! And where do you ask i got it? well im a reviewer now at : . It went far beyond my expectations. Surrender to Fate was sad, sweet and heartbreaking. There were so many moments in the book that I would feel the urge or need to bawl my eyes out. I also believe that Jacelyn Rye has this amazing way of writing that has the power to make the reading audience feel the emotion of her characters. The story starts out with Will and Sarah, both best friends in love with each other. Though fate doesn't make it easy for them because as soon as Will confesses, Sarah is ripped away from him. Even a million miles away they still think of each other but can their love withstand distance?? And supporting characters like Margaret (who I did not like at all!) do not make it easy for them !! OMG and the cliffhanger at the end, it was sooo....... well lets just say that i really need the next book but i don't know when it'll be out!! :(This absolutely got my blood pumping, there are not a lot of books this passionate and emotional. I would definitely recommend it to those of you who love steamy books with so much drama and passion that leave you feel wanting more.

“ME WARE WO” - A Commitment. LOVED THIS BOOK & COMMITTED TO JACELYN’S BOOKS! ABSOLUTE MUST READ.When I first started reading this book and saw it began in 1942, I thought to myself uh-oh I’m not going to enjoy this because I haven’t been interested in historical romances in quite some time. With that said, before I even completed Chapter 1 I was COMPLETELY RIVETED! I don’t think this falls into the typical “historical” romance category so if you aren’t into that either, you MUST READ THIS!Jacelyn has written this totally captivating book so that the characters and story are vividly and beautifully brought to life. I literally wanted to live and breathe this book and for it to never end. The emotional journey you are taken on is enormous. You feel the emotions of each of the characters, you feel like you are at the locations described – all with such unbelievable clarity. I literally felt such pure heartfelt emotion reading every single page of this book.In this story, you are taken on a journey that begins with 2 families in Colorado, parents and children the best of friends – neighbors, always there to help and support each other in any way, sharing events and holidays together. A sweet, tender, beautiful romance emerges from friendship between the son and daughter of each of the families. Back then times were so tough, families fought hard to keep food on the table and being able to support their farms. Fate changes the path of 1 family with the promise of a steady job for the head of the house offered by an old friend that takes them from their “home” in Colorado and those they love to a brand new beginning in California. Dreams must be left behind for both families and children and love pulled away too soon. In California, everything is different – the weather, the farm, the people, the stability. The family has a hard time transitioning to their new California roots as warm and inviting as the friend’s farm is and his family. With the passing of time, feelings of what used to be “home” seem to diminish but can you ever really let those feelings go? There are a lot of miles separating Colorado from California. A crushing event happens to 1 of the families that turns their life upside down. Will they be able to ever find happiness again or will everything remain a memory? The children grow and mature. Relationships grow, new romances develop on a more mature level but do they trust that the answer will come at the right time and be clear as to when and if to move on? A 3 cent postage stamp can keep the connection through a letter – should the stamp be used? When should it be used? Would it make it there if used? The attack on Pearl Harbor happens, sending young men to prepare for battle. Are decisions made too late?I can’t rave enough about this book! I literally highlighted so many parts in the book that meant so much to me as a reader. There’s a thought from a main character in the story “...Once something leaves a profound mark on the heart, the mark is always there…certain that while the mark may fade with time, the scar would remain...” This book to me certainly was no scar, but has left a profound mark on MY heart.Be prepared for an emotionally charged book that’s for sure with a major cliffhanger. Oh and read it to find out about “Me Ware Wo”! WOW!!!!I have found another favorite author and absolutely can’t wait to read more of Jacelyn’s work. BRAVO on a brilliant piece of work! I’m STILL emotional about this book.

This book is set in the 1939-1940’s and yes that in itself had me thinking it may not be for me. It is not usually my choice in books to read but I gave it a shot and…this is what I thought...YOU MUST READ THISSarah and William have been the best of friends growing up. There families have always been very close. When they reach the age of maturity they finally admit that they feel more for one another than simple friendship, they feel love. They make promises to each other of a future. But what would any book be without the conniving girl on the sidelines that tries to ruin it all…Margaret. Oh my Margaret how I wanted to kick her a few times for sure. When Sarah’s parents are forced to move to California so her father could provide for his family her world came crashing in around her. This meant she would have to leave William and the love she felt for him. The promise they had made to one day be together was now in question. Her family could no longer make it in Colorado and that left her parents no other choice but to leave behind the life that had known. They would be no living on a farm that belonged to an old friend of her father’s. He would work on the farm for free housing and be given a small wage for his family. Sarah came to realize quickly that Oscar and Ellie were friendly people and very welcoming. Adley their son well he gave her an uneasy feeling and she was not yet able to figure out just what that meant for sure. And of Course with Sarah gone Margaret made sure she found every way to be near William. When William is offered a job working for her father in his store, well that just made it all the more easier for her to sink her claws in to William. With Sarah and William so far apart they found comfort in others. William fought his attraction for Margaret while Sarah fought hers for Adley. It was hard for the both of them to hold on to each other while being so far apart. Oh and Margaret played a little game of her own to make sure that William thought a little less about Sarah. The thing was William found himself in a situation where things just had be done or so he felt and before he knew it his life was being planned out for him. When Sarah gets a letter revealing a tragic loss within William’s family and the fact that William had moved on she decides to let go of her past and move forward with her future.Just when things appeared to be set for them both... Pearl Harbor was struck and Adley along with her younger brother Matty were drafted to war. She was devastated with the idea of losing both of them and in the back her mind she knew Will would also be fighting as well. This story held me and I needed to find out more. I couldn't stop reading about the lives of these characters and it was beautiful and emotional at the same time...This read was one that I was so glad I gave a chance and I was not disappointed.Oh the cliffhanger…yes we have a cliffhanger and darn it if I am not craving the second book now…Shattered by Fate… Grab Your Copy Now because you will need to know what happens next.IT IS AN ADDICTION!!!!!

Blog Tour Stop: Stars "Me Ware Mo"A promise... a commitment. Will and Sarah grew up together and went from being best friends, to being....more. A genuinely deep and innocent love soon bloomed between then. Everything was going great until fate stepped in. Sarah moved with her family from Colorado to California. Not a big deal, right? Wrong. You see, this book took place in the 1940's. It's not like they could just pick up a phone and call each other. Hell, they couldn't even afford to write each other."...I made a promise to him. We promised each other, actually. I promised heart."Even after being separated, life kept getting in their way... complicating things, making them doubt if their love had been real. Without giving anything away, I'll say that Will and Sarah's love got put to the many different ways. Whether they pass or fail is still yet to be uncovered since this book was just the starting point in their journey. To be completely honest, this book started out as a solid 4 stars read to me. The first half of the book was relatively light and sweet, and then BAM!! The plot started picking up and more things started happening. I just really ended up getting into it. Oh.Em.Gee. *fans self* There were some pretty HOT, detailed scenes in this book!!! Oh... my!!!!!!!!!!!!! I swear, this was my face while reading those scenes (0.0). I'm not even kidding. Those scenes were seriously HOT. Like, thigh-clenching, HOT.Anyway, the characters in this book were very well developed. Even though I absolutely loved Sarah and Will, they also disappointed me at times. Once you read this, you'll probably understand why. There were moments where my heart flat out broke for them and what they both were going through. Just like there were moments I wanted to slap them. I absolutely HATED Margaret. Ugh. What a manipulative bitch. Hated her with a passion. Adley... hello Adley. He was quite the Alpha... yum. I found myself wanting to read more and more about him. Which kind of made me feel badly about it. Again, once you read this book, you'll understand what I mean. Matty, Sarah's brother, was one of my favorites characters. He was just the sweetest little brother any girl could want. The author's writing style was in my opinion, phenomenal. Right off the bat, I fell in love with how this book was written. Everything flowed smoothly and effortlessly. Like I mentioned before, Surrender To Fate, was just the beginning of the Sarah and Will's journey. That said, you should know this book ends in a cliffhanger, which I was expecting. Although, I was NOT expecting it to end THAT way. Let's just hope book two is right around the corner because I need to know what happens next.I recommend this book!!"I guess it just goes to show that we don't get to be in charge of everything..."

I am a believer! A total believer in Author Jacelyn Rye. I am not sure where to start this review because this story contained so many elements that typically turn me off as a reader. However, Jacelyn Rye TOTALLY NAILED IT in this storyline. Did I want to throw my Kindle? Check! Did I want to slap a character or two? Check! Did I want to swap positions with Sarah in a truck? Hell Yes! The title of this book sums it all up! Your heart better be ready to go on a long and angsty journey while reading this book. This really is a beautiful love story. Love stories are not always wrapped up neatly with a red bow and perfect wrapping paper. This story takes place in the 1940’s. The two young characters that fall in love are absolutely easy to fall in love with as a reader, but like I said not all love stories are perfect. They are torn apart by circumstances, and remember it is set in the 1940’s, so communication was out of the question. How is possible to stay true to their feelings? Life moves on, and so do they in their own individual ways. Oh, and you know you have to have characters you love to hate! Don’t you worry, enter Margaret. Who is Margaret, you ask? Well you will just have to read to find out, but trust me you will want to slap her. Then we have Adley, and this is where I am really torn as a reader. I love Adley. Like totally and completely love Adley and his strong-pushy attitude. I want him to kidnap Sarah and go live happily ever after on some tropical island. Obviously, I am not the author, and have to read book #2 to see where this beautiful love story ends! Thank you Jacelyn for a beautiful read & please don’t break my heart! #teamadley“Because after tonight, the sound of the rain will bring back memories of what I’m going to make you feel. You will hear the sound of rain, and you will remember my lips.” -Adley

Surrender To Fate is one of the most heart wrenching books I have ever read. Man I have to say this is a story of love and how far the heart will go to save that love. I am not sure if you have ever loved someone so much you would die for them only to have them ripped from you and your heart is left shattered into a million pieces. But the heart is a funny thing because it wants what it wants and will not stop until it gets it.This is the story about William and Sarah in the gorgeous mountains of Colorado. Will and Sarah share a love like no other. They grow together in love and share everything. They have their firsts of in love in everything they do and it is pure and innocent. As time passes for them they know that they will be together and as they make plans for the future their plans revolve around them making a happy home and building a family for themselves. Then tragedy strikes this couple and they will be forever changed and rocked to the core. Can love survive distance? Because Sarah and Will are about to find out because one of them is moving away and the other is staying. With the promises to love each other through the distance they separate. But distance and time can be a bitch and it will test Sarah and Will and they will have to make the decision to fight for the true love they have or love one another enough to let them go? This is such a refreshing read from what I normally read that I was laughing one minute and then crying so hard the next. The entire time routeing for them and hoping and praying they stayed together and found each other when the time was right. What happened to them....... well you will have to read it to find out!

Bloody fantastic!!!This started out like a family saga then turned into a sweet love story. What I thought would happen didn't. It was GREAT that I was so wrong! So many books get quite predictable and this was enchanted and kept me gripped through out the day. Then quietly I say and finished it this evening. The ending is a cliff hanger! I want, no, no, no, I NEED to know what happens next to Sarah and her family.I want to catch up on Matt.Oh, I need book 2!I was lucky to receive this ARC as a gift from the author, firstly because she's in my friend & my Facebook authors promo group and of course my blog read!!

Ro's Take on this Journey:Surrender to Fate, by Jacelyn Rye, has turned my world upside down. The covers alone are haunting. The story begins in 1942, when Sarah Ellis and Will Harston are reunited. Sarah is swept away by love, and wants to feel the man she has always loved. All she wants is to be in his arms once again. She has not felt anything in so long, just numbness. The scene is tender, wanton, and beautiful. You will feel the crushing tenderness between these two lost souls. This saga is so windswept and pure. It reminded me of the innocence and freshness of life in Little House on the Prairie when it begins, to the dynamics of Gone with the Wind as it progressed. The wording is wonderfully fresh and the descriptions and prose are so succinct. I devoured every word, and could picture every event as it took place. To think that this is the debut novel for Ms. Rye, is unbelievable. The way she makes the reader feel every emotion, picture every part of the Colorado Mountains, the Creek, the trees and the way they feel, was astounding. Ms. Rye made me feel every touch, every emotion, and left me wanting more.Surrender to Fate reverts back to three years earlier, in 1939, when these two characters are growing up together as friends. The reader is mesmerized by the innocence of those times, difficult times to live in, yet simple things made people the happiest; the phonograph, simple days, fun times, tree houses in the forest, picnics with the township, soda fountains, fishing, it was all so refreshing and imaginative. Of course, every town has it's very own pretentious family. Margaret Thorton and her parents are them! What an obnoxious group. They are so believable, the reader wants to reach out and smack them! Then there are the wonderful friends they have been so close to since their children were born, the Harstons. Sarah, her younger brother, Matty, and their parents, Edward and Anne, had been best friends with Will's parents, Henry and Catherine, and their younger son, Tommy, since their children were young. Edward actually saved Catherine's life by delivering Tommy, when he was born and she almost died in childbirth. They were bonded for life. It was Sarah's 18th Birthday, and there was a celebration. Sarah and Will finally found some time to go to the soda shop for a while, when they ran into, you guessed it, Margaret Thorton. Margaret manages to burst their private moment, and ruins Sarah's night. In the process of that night, Will and Sarah promise themselves to one another and the evening is saved. They steal moments in the dark whenever they get a chance, just to hold hands. The butterflies swarming in Sarah's stomach at the look and touch of Will was so memorable. It brought me back to my younger days and first experiences with new love. They fit like a glove together, two halves of the same whole. Unfortunately, there is a yearly picnic with the entire community, and Edward announces that they are moving to California for a job opportunity. In reality, the family is losing their farm and has no choice. Sarah is caught off guard, and is mortified, as is Will, and Margaret is there to pounce! Margaret wants Will at any cost. When Sarah and her family are packing to leave, Will and Sarah sneak off to say goodbye. It was so touching, Will gives her the priceless gift of a stamp so she can write to him, and she gives him a rock she found in the shape of a heart. The readers heartbroken with these two poor characters. They don't know what their future holds, and in the times to come, things get harder than they could have ever imagined. This novel takes the reader through the trip to California, where Sarah meets a sexy older guy named Adley, hot and sexy, at her father's new farm, and feels conflicted, though she knows she loves Will. They grow closer and closer as the time goes by and there is a definite attraction that is undeniable. The two are reunited, at Thanksgiving dinner at the fireworks explode as Adley takes complete control of Sarah's senses and drives her mad with desire she has never felt before. At the same time, Will is growing closer to Margaret, yet still loving Sarah. Margaret is conniving like Scarlet O'Hara! Believe me, Will held out, though tempted while giving Margaret a fishing lesson. He had been without Sarah for a year, and finally gave into her advances. It was maddening... The scenes were seductive and deliberate, and Margaret knew exactly how to taunt him with her ample breasts and a jar of very sizzling honey! Surrender to Fate, had so many twists and turns, unforeseen, heart wrenching scenes, lies, deceit, blackmail, extortion of sorts, war time, fear, and it all came together in an illusive story that always came back to love, surrender, and fate. You can't fight fate, no matter what twist you put on it. Everything in life comes full circle, and this novel will leave you reeling with an unexpected turn of events that you will never see coming! The love scenes will leave you breathless. Ms. Rye is an expert, and she has only just begun. I can't wait to read the second segment, Shattered by Fate, of this phenomenal saga, and find out what will happen with these amazing characters. Get the Kleenex ready. You will need them for this tear jerker. It holds on and doesn't let go, long after the final page has been turned. Add these two books to your TBR, they are a must!I give Surrender to Fate, by Jacelyn Rye, 5 Wonderfully, Refreshing, Dynamic, Life Changing, Love Making, Earth Shattering Stars!!!Favorite Quote:"He reached across her body for the jar of honey. He slowly tilted it until the golden liquid began to flow out of the mouth of the jar. He held it over her, letting it drizzle and drip all over her warm body. Margaret moaned again and her body began to writhe under the sticky concoction. Now it was William's turn to truly taste the honey." (Kindle-Loc-1938) ~Will

I absolutely adored this book! It took a minute to get into the story which is pretty common for me but a few chapters in, I was hooked! This is a beautiful, sweet romance based in the late 1930’s early 1940’s about two young people who fall in love but are torn apart by circumstance. Separated by fate, Sarah and William try to stay true to their feelings, but with no access to each other they both struggle with what path they should choose. Do they keep faith that one day they will find their way back to each other or do they move forward with how their lives are naturally unfolding? With this being Jacelyn Rye’s debut album, I pleasantly found her story very well written and completely believable! Although this is a fiction, I could see this story happening many times over during this specific time period and it really pulled at my heartstrings! If you are looking for a beautiful yet heart-wrenching love story, go out and grab Surrender To Fate today! The Divas are giving Surrender To Fate by Jacelyn Rye 5 out of 5 champagne glasses!* Allison*My friend and other Diva wrote a fantastic review on this book, so I won´t go ahead and write another one with the same content. Since I read this book too, I´ll just write what I felt about the whole story. :-)Surrender To Fate was actually one of the best books I´ve read this year. Each and every emotion the characters went through were 100% natural and remarkable. It felt as if I was feeling what the characters were feeling. Very few books allowed me to go through such emotional pain….and Surrender To Fate sent me from Heaven to Hell within a few seconds! I loved how this story started out so innocent and became more serious. The heartbreak Sarah endured was painful and I had no other choice as to mourn with her. Her thoughts and feelings were no strangers to me, so I really connected on an emotional level with her.Considering the time this story takes place in ( 1940`s), I believe it´s really authenticly written. The behavior, the language, even the amount of money people made back then….everything was right and therefor perfect. I also liked that the author made sure her audience understood what hard work meant back then. The roles women played and what happened when someone couldn´t afford to feed his family. The author did NOT once over-stress a scene or a subject and that made everything realistic…because, in the end… does go on, even for book characters.:-)The lovestory in Surrender To Fate was like a ghost. When the main characters ( Sarah & Will ) were together, all was perfect. And even if they weren´t even near each other….they always felt the others absence and their love never faded completely. Their love, even if they were ripped apart by tragic events ( tragic as in moving…not dying….lol) was still haunting them in the worst way possible. You will never forget the first love of your life, right? :-) And you will find a way to see one another someday, true? So, let me continue with how I reacted to this book:I cried. Like…..alot. There was one scene that actually sealed the deal for me. The scene when Sarah has to move and she and Will meet for the last time. Will gives Sarah a stamp so that she can write him. The poor boy saved all his money ( and we´re talkiing about scratching pennies over a longer period of time together!! ) just so he could gift Sarah a stamp! OH MY GOD! I was muush after that. I had to stop reading and get that sad image out of my head as quick as possible! How romantic! ( that just shows the small things in life count!! ) Basically, the whole story had me….but reading that little scene crushed me. I also found a little humor in Surrender To Fate. Not much, since I thought the whole ” 2 kids feel they belonged together, then the kids actually decided to go steady or be exclusive, then girl moves and both live seperate lives BUT still stay in love with each other” story was devastating and heart crushing. This book was very well written and above all……it was simple. The easier a story is, the more smoother the pages turn. The author found a good balance between Sarah´s and Will´s thoughts. Meaning: a reader has the chance to see what each of them was going through while they weren´t together. And it isn´t easy, because… just know that Sarah and Will are meant to be together FOREVER, but life just sometimes has other plans. :-)I am so greatful to have read this story. And I will charish it forever!*Julia*

First let me start off by saying that I really, really, really wanted to like this book. The cover drew me in and I really wanted to read this book, but UGH I hated it! Even though this book is somewhat of a "historical" read since it takes place in the 1940's the prologue got my attention, and I thought ohhh I'm gonna like this, but there was so much nonsense in the first 18 chapters I didn't know when it was going to get good. Yes I know that you need a back story for the characters and we need to know how they intertwine but my goodness 18 chapters is a bit much! I was so bored that I had to force myself to press on. Ok, now to the story... Sarah a young girl and has basically been in love with her childhood best friend since before she can even remember. Sarah and William have this bond and they both know that they are destined to be together and make a vow that when they are older, and William has his future plans in order to take care of her, that they will get married. Then the unthinkable happens and Sarah is forced to move to California with her family leaving everything she had ever known and loved behind. Of course this is devastating to both of them, but they both recover quickly and find new partners. For William it is Sarah's enemy Margaret. Margaret's dad owns the lumber mill where William has been working to help his family with extra income for their farm. Margaret has always had a thing for William and now that her competition is gone she goes for it and tries to make him fall in love with her. She doesn't hold anything back either. She basically throws herself on William and lets him do all sorts of dirty things with her. Normally I wouldn't find this upsetting, after-all I love reading kinky books but it just seems like for the time period things like this wouldn't happen normally. Where were her parents when all of this was going on? There is no way that a teenage girl growing up in the 40's could just go off alone with a boy, especially one of a lower standing that her without someone raising an eyebrow. I was under the impression that things were a lot different then than they are now. Long story short she gets him to propose to her and they are now getting married. Sarah drove me insane! Her story is similar to William's. While in California she starts to have feelings for her neighbor Adley. They do some pretty heavy sexual things as well. Don't get me wrong the almost sex scenes in this book are hot, but again they don't seem to fit the time era. Then again I could be totally wrong and maybe the author did her research. Sarah left Colorado with William in her heart and he has stayed there the entire time that she has been in California and the entire time that she has been meeting up with Adley. Adley professes his love for Sarah numerous times but she always holds back because she's still in love with William and because of the promise she made to him that they would be married one day. I give her props for keeping a promise but HELLO, they live in different states now and might not ever see each other again so why hold on to a promise like that? It was frustrating to read about over and over and over again. Adley finally makes her choose and although she still loves Will, she claims to love Adley now. Adley and Sarah get engaged but the war prevents them from getting married as he is sent off to fight after the attack on Pearl Harbor. The rest of the book is about the way Sarah copes with Adley being away and she's still thinking about Will. Then something horrible happens and the book literally just stops! RAWR (that's me yelling). How can a book just stop like that?! I totally get there is a second book, but to just stop without some sort of closure just makes me angry! UGHOverall, the book read well. There were some mistakes and some words were left out entirely, but it was an alright read.

I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.A story about two young people who fall in love at a young age. However their love is not an easy one and they are torn apart and both individually suffer so much heart ache. It will be up to fate to someday bring these two lovers together once again. One of the most beautiful but heart-breaking stories I've ever read. I didn't quite know what to expect when I started to read this story but it was so much more than I could have imagined. It was a beautiful love story filled with so many heart-breaking moments, and I desperately need the second book because I need to read the HEA I am so hoping for. The two main characters in this book are Will and Sarah. I loved these two from the very first page, and their love for each other at such a young age was so strong and innocent. Will was such a gentlemen and the way he spoke to Sarah, the way he was toward her, is what every girl hopes her boyfriend will be towards them. He's brave, protective, loving, so kind and is one of my favourite male characters ever. Sarah was such a sweet girl who struggled so hard when she moved, and I could feel my heart breaking for her when she had to say goodbye, it was the first scene that had me crying and praying that these two lovers would remain strong and find each other again one day. I detested Margaret and literally can't stand her. She is manipulative, mean, cruel, spoiled... .I could go on and on about her negative personality, but I'll let you read the story and see for yourself just how much of a horrible women she is. Where with most of the characters I either loved or hated, I can't decide about Adley- he seemed so sweet through most of the book, if a little demanding, but I truly believe that's because he loves her but one of the last scenes with him and Sarah had me hesitating a bit, but then I think I should try and understand his attitude considering the circumstances. In terms of the actual story I don't really want to say too much as I don't want to give anything away. But I will say that it was beautiful but devastatingly sad all at the same time. It defiantly kept me turning page after page, and it also had me full out crying, especially the last few chapters. I don't think I'll be able to properly get into another book until I have read the second one of this series because that ending has left me in tears and praying that everything is going to work out okay. These two young people and their families have been through so much heart ache throughout this story, I don't quite know how they all will, but they all deserve to have some much needed happiness in their lives. I definitely recommend this book with a warning to readers that it does have a cliffhanger ending and that you will need a box of tissues next to you for the tears you will surely shed. I will be buying the second book as soon as it is released, and I really hope there isn't too long to wait. I need to finish Sarah's' and Will's love story and know that the other characters I also love have their own version of a happily ever after. Well done to the author to creating a old-fashioned but beautiful romance in a period of time when life was hard for so many people. I hope you are planning a HEA for Will and Sarah and I will defiantly keep a look out for more of your work.5-starsReviewed by Bethany

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. One of the most beautiful but heart-breaking stories I've ever read. I didn't quite know what to expect when I started to read this story but it was so much more than I could have imagined. It was a beautiful love story filled with so many heart-breaking moments and I desperately need the second book because I need to read the HEA I am so hoping for. The two main characters in this book are Will and Sarah. I loved these two from the very first page and their love for each other at such a young age was so strong and innocent. Will was such a gentlemen and the way he spoke to Sarah, the way he was toward her, is what every girl hopes her boyfriend will be towards them. He's brave, protective, loving, so kind and is one of my favourite male characters ever. Sarah was such a sweet girl who struggled so hard when she moved and I could feel my heart breaking for her when she had to say goodbye, it was the first scene that had me crying and praying that these two lovers would remain strong and find each other again one day. I detested Margaret and literally can't stand her. She is manipulative, mean, cruel, spoilt...I could go on and on about her negative personality but I'll let you read the story and see for yourself just how much of a horrible women she is. Where with most of the characters I either loved or hated, I can't decide about Adley- he seemed so sweet through most of the book, if a little demanding but I truly believe that's because he loves her but one of the last scenes with him and Sarah had me hesitating a bit but then I think I should try and understand his attitude considering the circumstances. In terms of the actual story I don't really want to say too much as I don't want to give anything away. William and Sarah were best friends growing up in the mountains of Colorado. As they grew up, they realized there was a lot more than friendship between them, it was more like love. Forever seemed like a guarantee, a no brainer; everyone wants to spend the rest of their life with their best friend. Like all things in life, unexpected circumstances completely derailed their plans.Sarah and her family packed up and moved from Colorado to California. Thousands of miles separated Sarah and Will, but they still promised each other forever. What happens when temptation causes the mind to stray? Is their love enough to overshadow the distance?Margaret is more than happy to take Will’s mind off of Sarah. Enough said.. Trust me, you won’t like Margaret or her conniving father. Sarah finds company with Adley. Although Will and Sarah both have companions to help pass the time, neither can seem to completely let go.I’m going to be 100% honest- At first, I wasn’t sure if I would enjoy this book or not with it being set in the 1940’s, but I was hooked within a few chapters. I was captivated with the relationship that developed between Will and Sarah. They were so young, but so sure of the love they shared. When Sarah and her family moved to California, my heart broke. Distance was an issue for Sarah and Will. There was no cell phone, no internet or cheap flight to easily keep them in contact with one another. When Sarah and Adley started to develop feelings for one another, I was excited but torn. I had mixed emotions because I felt like I was betraying Will. Actually, to be quite honest, I was mad at Will because of the relationship he was developing with Margaret. Couldn’t he see what a deceptive person she was? If he couldn’t be with Sarah, he deserved much better than Margaret. I loved the style of writing the author utilized. Alternating points of view made me feel like I got to know each of the characters a little better. The end of this book was a complete emotional roller coaster. The emotion that Jacelyn Rye was able to evoke is unreal. I seriously think I cried through the last half of the book. There are so many twists and turns you don’t see coming. Each characters fate is up in the air. I am torn because I love Will and Adley, how can I choose? How can Sarah choose? I’m ready for the next installment of the Fate’s Path series. I need to know where these characters will end up and who they’ll end up with. Loved this read!

3.5/5 hearts***I received an eARC in exchange for an honest review***I love romance just as much as the next girl. It was hard to get into this book for me. I mean it starts out good, had me like oh yeah sex scene already whooo hoooo, then well then it gets thrown back 3 years and all the sizzle left. Well not completely but you have to read further in to get back to the sizzle. I liked that the author was descriptive but it was just to much description for me. A few sentences would suffice maybe a paragraph but 2-3 pages before someone answers a question is too long, by that time I have forgot what the heck the other person even asked. I was intrigued that it was set in the late 30's early 40's because I am a huge history buff. I love movies set in that era, books etc...I just kept finding things that were not quite right for that era, as in the way people spoke. I don't know maybe I am crazy. It had a sort of little house on the Prairie feel for me. Fate sure seemed to really be working with the two main characters. It was like something happened to one and the the other got something almost similar.I liked the story between Sarah and Will. I know its hard to believe in love that transcends time and distance but I am rooting for these two. Sarah and Will's story is cute they grew up together and love one another and it shows. Well you know there is no real story if drama is not involved. That would be several things in this story. Sarah's family has to leave Colorado and move to California. This is where it gets interesting and the sizzle picks back up!!Then there is Margaret. I loathe her! She is a conniving witch who will do anything to get what and who she wants and that is Will. Once Sarah is gone she moves in for the kill. Will is put in some tough situations because of her. Oh and at one point I wanted to rip her head off for what she does (ok well several times). What is it with chicks with red hair? are they all just bitches? There is another character that is brought in Adley. He is well Sarah's other love interest and I am sad because I think I like Will more. Adley, to me seems too immature. He holds things against Sarah. Well fate steps in and it gets crazy and complicated.Like I said it took a bit to get back to the sizzle and once it does it was happy. I liked that this is about a love to which we have to wait and see if it is able to withstand time and distance.

I received an ARC as a part of the blog tour for Shattered by Fate. What a fantastic read! The time period in the beginning starts in 1942, I must admit, that once I began reading I was worried that I wouldn't like it. I am glad that I put that issue aside and continued reading. I felt so many emotions while reading this story; suspense, anxiety, grief, sadness, anger, relief, loss,sympathy... Jacelyn Rye sure knows how to ignite a readers emotions. It was impossible to predict the plot twist that are embedded throughout this read. Surrender to Fate was a suspenseful, anxious, thrill ride. I really liked the main characters: William (Will) and Sarah. Will and Sarah have known each other forever. Their family was the best friends. They did everything together. Will and Sarah enjoyed their time together in Colorado. Will and Sarah were inseparable...soul mates even. Both Will and Sarah knew that they were destined to be together forever. Of course fate rears it ugly head and leaves Sarah's family no choice but to move to California so her father can provide for their family. Work in Colorado was poor and Sarah's family could not thrive any longer. Sarah and Will are distraught. One minute they thought that they would spend the rest of their lives together, and the next Sarah is moving 1000 miles away. Before Sarah and her family left for California her and William made a commitment to each other. Me Ware Wo, "I shall marry you." Will and Sarah promised each other that no matter the distance they would end up together and married some day. They promised each other their heart. As strong as their bond was you would think that nothing would stand in between them, right? Well, you know sometimes fate has other plans..Once Sarah arrived in California she met Adley and Will was left in Colorado with Sarah's enemy Margaret. Adley was immediately infatuated with Sarah and Margaret has had her eyes on Will for a very long time. You must know that Margaret will stop at nothing to get what she wants. She has no morals. So, the question is: will Sarah and Will's love withstand all obstacles? Will Sarah and Will stay true to their commitment? This is a bumpy unpredictable ride folks, and in order to find out their fate, you must read Will and Sarah's story. Note: Surrender to Fate ends on a HUGE cliffhanger, but luckily Shattered by Fate (book #2) is readily available for purchase.

I have to be honest and say I have no clue where in the world to start my review. I finished this book late in the evening and I knew that I needed a day or two before I could write this one. For this being her debut novel Jacelyn did an absolutely fantastic job. When reading the Prologue I have to totally admit that I really thought I knew where this story was going to go, but boy oh boy was I wrong. The title of this book first it to the letter, you will truly see surrendering to fate.Sarah is a sweet, caring, genuine young lady who is growing up and realizing that her best friend maybe more than just that. Will is a strong, hardworking, caring young man, who knows that Sarah is more than just a friend or young love crush. You get to see to young people fall in love and have hopes and dreams for a life they want more than anything. Unfortunately the best laid plans do not always come about. The way Jacelyn wrote Will and Sarah I felt my heartbreaking in two for this couple. I wanted to scream with Sarah that life isn't fair. I love when I can really dig into and relate to the characters emotions. Sarah and Will swear that thing will be ok but life, distance and two new additions will test this promise. Margaret is your typical rich and spoiled brat, I so badly wanted to reach through my iPad and smack this girl. The lengths this woman goes through to ensure she gets what she wants is absolutely unbelievable. Then we have Adley who to me is very similar to Will and that is what makes me love him as well. He is strong, loyal, caring and has strong family ties. Every time I felt like I really knew what was going to happen another curve ball was thrown my way. I loved that I keep having to guess and want to turn the next page to see what was going to happen between these 4 characters. Fair warning you are going to be left with a crazy cliffhanger but with the way she wrote it yes you are dying for the next book but you aren't going to be screaming and wanting to throw your ereader.I would recommend this book to everyone. It is a sweet read, mild sexual situations, romantic, heart wrenching and hopeful read. Do yourself a favor and pick it up!!!

This is a heartfelt story of first love, heartbreak, temptation and deceit. Is your first love really strong enough to weather anything? If you fall to temptation is your love really all that strong for that person? Sarah and Will thought they knew where there life was heading. They planned to be together forever and make each other happy. That all changed one day when Sarah had to leave. Sarah was devastated with the news of having to leave her home, her childhood and Will. She didn't want to go with her parents, but she had no choice. The only thing she had to look forward to was the promise her and Will made. They would be together one day and make each other happy. Though with all the time away and the temptation of others filling their heads will they keep that promise? Sarah tries to stay away from Adley, but she likes him and doesn't know what is right. Can she be friends only with Adley? Or does it become more? Will is devastated when Sarah leaves him. He submerges himself in work and doing chores around the farm so his mind will have less if a chance to wonder to Sarah. He doesn't want to let her go, but the longer she is gone and he doesn't receive a letter from her he starts to doubt what they had. This could be the end of the end for them. He knows he shouldn't want Margaret, but he never saw her as evil like Sarah did. He likes the way Margaret makes him feel. He doesn't want to move on, but he isn't given a choice. His hands are tied and he has to make a life altering decision that could potential ruin his future. Will he wait for Sarah? Will he give in to the temptation of Margaret? This book takes you on an amazing journey of first love and finding a second love. It takes you through the heartache of losing loved ones and having to walk away from you life to make a better one for you and your family. This book is very emotional and heartfelt. I cannot wait to read book two and see where Sarah, Will, Adley and Margaret all end up.

This was one of those stories that had characters your loved that seemed to equally frustrate you.Sarah and William had grown up together in Colorado and eventually fallen in love. But fate throw them a curve when shortly after Sarah's eighteenth birthday, her family leaves Colorado for Bakersfield, California. William and Sarah are both devastated by their separation, but they make promises to each other that one day they will be together again. But once they're separated, life has much different ideas about what should happen with William and Sarah. Can they hold onto their promise to each or will they give in to what's right in front of them? There was something about William and Sarah in the beginning, with their sweetness and hopefulness, that had me hoping against hope that they could hold onto their relationship. They were young, but there was just something about the two of them together that made me want to them to fight for their relationship. But after Sarah's move, it seemed like William was to easily swayed by outside forces to become someone that he wasn't. It seemed like he gave up on Sarah too easily and allowed Margaret and her father to use circumstances against William so Margaret could get what she wanted...which was of course William. For Sarah, she met her knew neighbor Adley. He was different from William, he pushed Sarah. To talk to him, to open up to him and to finally admit that she was falling for him. It was very different from what Margaret was doing with William, because while Adley pushed, it was still Sarah who made the decision about which direction their relationship took. But Sarah held onto her belief that William was waiting for her. Each time she and Adley crossed a "threshold" she would feel guilt about betraying William. She was truly torn because she did love both men. There is a cliffhanger ending to this one, as fate plays it's hand with our hero and heroine. Hopefully we won't have to wait too long to see what's in store for Sarah and William.

Surrender to Fate, Book 1 in Fate’s Path Series by Jacelyn Rye is a very good story that I really enjoyed but felt that there were just a couple of things “off” for me. This a tough review for me to write not because I didn’t like the book but because I really liked it, liked it as in…I devoured it but at the end I felt unsettled, like something just didn’t feel right. Surrender to Fate, starts off really sweet and innocent and pulls you right into the story. At the beginning I felt it had a “Little House on the Prairie” vibe to it and I really fell in love with the tone of the story and the characters. Hard times hit the families and tough decisions must be made. Sarah and Will are separated and learn that love isn’t always enough and that life goes on regardless of what your heart feels. It is at this point that the tone changes for me. I realize some of it is the characters are changing from teenagers into adults but it seemed like the sex scenes were a little too graphic for the tone that the story initially started with. The scenes are well written but for me they just felt out of place for Sarah’s character. The only other thing that I think added to my “unsettled” feelings was the ending. I am not one that has a problem with cliffhangers. I honestly expect them in most of the stories that I read and I’m okay with that. But Surrender to Fate didn’t really feel like a cliffhanger to me. It felt more like it was just paused and I was honestly wondering if I was missing some pages or that I might have missed something. With that being said, I want to let you know that the story is wonderful and I am definitely planning on reading the second book and the third in this series. The author has a definite gift for bringing vivid details and emotion to her stories that allows the reader to connect with her characters and their struggles.

I finished this book and honestly really didn't know (and partly still don't) how to begin writing a review of this book. There really are no words to describe all the feelings I have and had during every page of it. I definitely have a "book hangover" after this one. Sarah and Will are the normal best friends who have grown up together and are each other's first love. We all know how powerful first, true love can be. It is heartwarming and heartbreaking and Jacelyn Rye writes it perfectly. And then forces beyond their control tear them apart actually a thousand miles apart. Though, they vow not to say goodbye and that one day they will be together again, other forces have other ideas. Mainly, this other woman, Margaret who in my opinion, was an awful person. Spoiled, rotten and beyond witchy I truly wanted to reach through my iPad and strangle with my bare hands. And then there is Adley, who is a great guy and reminds me so much of Will. He wants Sarah's love and her whole heart and Sarah is torn. Does she stay with the promise that she and Will made or does she accept fate has given her a different path? Does Will see who Margaret really is and follow his heart which will always lead back to Sarah or does he decide that his fate has also changed? My heart was literally breaking reading this story, there are so many things that happen that is so real and definitely happen, but it is also a love story to the fullest. I will definitely recommend this book, but forewarning, it is a cliffhanger and doesn't answer all your questions, but leaves you asking more and even more than that, it will leave you completely breathless!! I give this book 5 AMAZEBALLS stars!!! I was lucky enough to be given an ARC of this book by the author for an honest review. Review by Tabitha

"What if your heart and your head are telling you two different things? How do I know which one to listen to?"Sarah and Will have been friends ever since they could remember. Just when they promise to be with each other forever they are suddently surprised when one has to leave. The promise they kept in eachother heart was that they will always be together. With distance and time it became harder and harder coming to terms that they may not possibly see each other again. Now both are left with a hard choice: Do they keep their hearts reserved for just each other or learn move on and to give their hearts to someone else. This book was placed in the 1930's -1940's. Normally I'm not into books based on the past. I didn't realized until I got into the book that it was and by that time I was already enjoying the book. This book was a bit slow at first but once things moved along I found myself enjoying this sweet and heart breaking book. I thought this book was sweet, steamy and filled with drama. I loved that the POW kept switching around to different characters it helped me connect to the characters more. I feel that even if this book was based on the past people now can relate to that feeling. Having distance between someone you love can be hard and its learning what to do from there that people can relate to. Do you just hold your heart for the one you live far from or learn to make new experiences and see other people with different possibilities?Oh and as one reader to another I feel like I should warn you, this book has a cliffhanger. Friggen hate cliff hangers and I was reading a bit of the little sneak peak for the next book and then when that cut off too I knew I just set myself up a dissapointment. Can't wait to see what happens next. 4 of 5 Stars!

I was gifted this book from the Author for an honest review.I gave this book 5+ Stars. This is Will and Sarah's story. And what a story it is. Will and Sarah have been best friends their whole lives, their family's are close and do everything together, through the good times and the bad. How could they not be best friends, but as they get older their feelings start to change and they fall in love. This is a story of first love, of loss, of family and how to deal with things when fate doesn't quite go the way you planned it to go. How will these two handle life when they are so in love? This book flowed very well and had me submerged into the pages. I was so captivated by this story, I couldn't seem to put the book down, I honestly read the book all day and in that day had two cups of coffee and 2 suckers. THAT IS IT! Finally I was like 'Why am I so hungry?' Yeah it is one of those kind of books. You will not be disappointed if you invest in this book. This is book one and book two is already out so you do not have to wait. --->> GO NOW! Get both of them. This story is set in the 1940's and I wasn't sure that I was going to like that, and I didn't I loved it. I cried, I laughed, I swooned. I didn't sleep! Be prepared for a ride of your life as you join these two amazing characters on their journey to happiness, with a lot of bumps along the way. Thank you Jacelyn this book was phenomenal. You sure do know how to write a story.

**ARC provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.**Excuse me, while I get a tad teary writing this review. This book owned me, completely. I can get pretty emotional reading an amazing story but this one took those emotions to a whole new level. At first glance, I wasn’t sure if I’d like the fact that the book is set between 1939 and 1942, but I can tell you that I am its #1 fan and I am hanging out for the release of Shattered By Fate. While reading the prologue, you get so excited because it promises a happily ever after. I can tell you that this is not exactly the case, but don’t let that deter you from reading it without having the next book released. You NEED recovery time between Surrender To Fate and Shattered By Fate! Those first moments when Sarah and William realise they love each other.. my heart melted to a puddle on the floor! Though, just when you think that they have a chance to allow their relationship to grow, Sarah is forced to move away with her family when they can no longer afford to run the family farm. They make a promise that they’ll stay in touch and she’ll come back to him so they can grow old together.During their time apart, factors separate them even more than the distance. This is the time I took out shares in Kleenex because I cried through a whole box of tissues. When the characters are miles apart and are hurting each other without knowing it, I cried because I felt like I was betraying them by knowing. It hurts too much!!!!The book ends in a cliff-hanger and I am about ready to go insane because I need to know that Sarah and William are okay and they will live happily ever after. I just need more Sarah and Will in my life!

Oscar and Ellie have a farm and a son Adley the same age as Sarah. With chores to be done Sarah and Adley spend a lot of time together growing closer as time goes on. Mean while Will is spending a lot of time with Margaret and they grow closer. Until fates steps in and a chain of events start happening. I was hooked reading this story. It was so compelling I couldn't put it down. Its a story of sweet love and decisions. I loved Sarah and Will, and Adley. But Margaret is one of those girls you just want to shout at. Jacelyn does a great job of extracting these emotions out of you. There wasn't any part of the book I hated, apart from it finishing. The descriptions and storyline is prefect I could picture everything Jacelyn was setting out. Jacelyn, This book is amazing Thank you for letting me read an Arc copy. I cant wait to read shattered by Fate.

How can I say this...It was absolutely positively FANTASTIC!! The setting took place back between 1930-1940. Which I thought was going to be a little bit of a concern on my part - take it off the list! Jacelyn was able to build the setting, the characters, and the story in such a way, that I felt as if I was there. Will and Sarah - oh my gosh, how I would give to have that young love. The kind that you promise to each other forever. The love that is innocent and pure. But as we all know, time, life, changes has a way of trying to tear apart that kind of love. Will - always so strong, kind and protective over Sarah.Sarah - so sweet, loving and innocent. When Sarah had to move, is the really when you need to get the tissues out. (Yes, you will need a full BOX). It ripped my heart out at that moment.Of course, Jacelyn was able to throw a "villain" in the mix. Margaret. Wicked little wench for sure! Will and Sarah fight and fight someone more to overcome life's obstacles and hurdles to try and maintain that special love that you can find only once in a life time. Soul mates, some may say, I agree. It is hard to write many details about this story since they really will be spoilers. But hands down, this is a MUST READ!Please be prepared for a cliffhanger. Good news - the 2nd book is out already - Shattered By Fate. Again, it picks up wonderfully where the last one left off.

Heart wrenching comes to mind when reading this story. Sarah and William grew up together, they were everything for each other and they made innocent promises and made plans to be together forever no knowing that life has cruel ways to mess with all the plans and take us through a complete different path. With Sarah's family having to move to California to start a new life, Willian and hers planned future comes crashing down and relationships will be tested to the breaking point. Tragedy, deceit, loss, hate and lots of angst is what their journey is all about. Can William and Sarah overcome the distance between them or will the events and people following their separation will be their undoing? The author's writing style will captivate you from beginning to end. There are moments that your heart will completely brake for these characters, you will experience their pain like it was yours and you will cry, big ugly tears so have those Kleenex ready. These are beautiful characters and a completely believable story, the author really did a great job developing their story and making the reader feel. The story has lots of twists and turns towards the end and a bit of a cliffhanger so be aware of this but don't let this dictate if you read the story of not because it's totally worth reading. Can't wait for the next book. Highly recommend!

This review is from: Surrender to Fate (Fate's Path Part One: A New Adult/Coming of Age Romance Series) (Kindle Edition) This book is about young love and takes place in the late 1930's early 1940's. Jacelyn did a great job at making you feel like you can relate to the time and place this book takes place.Sarah and will thought they would be together forever and made a promise to each other. However fate has something in store for both of them and has them wondering if they can keep that promise with one another. Sarah and Will are torn apart and they both are trying to deal with the cards they have been dealt. Just when Sarah thinks things are starting to look up for her and things start to get better, another twist happens, and she has no idea how she can continue to deal with everyday life. This book came together wonderfully and ended with an even bigger twist than what you ever would have thought could have happened to Sarah. There's a big cliffhanger at the end of the book, but hey now I can't wait for book 2 to come out for this series. You can only imagine what will happen next, and of course you cant guess cause Jacelyn did a great job of twisting the story in a complete different direction that you thought it would be headed. This story will make you cry, laugh and crave the next book I bought this book on a whim when it was a free ebook. OMG what a surprise and gift it has been. The story centers around a young girl named Sarah and her family. Circa 1940?The story is written with beautiful detail and every character is well developed and believable.Sarah realizes that she is on love with her Best Friend, Will. They grew up together and she soon finds out that he feels the same way. The way it is written you get to relive what it felt like to be young, in love and how different your body and mind responds. But what neither of them know is that their lives were about to be turned upside down. The author begins to write in both perspectives and it is seamlessly done. You get to know what both Sarah and Will are feeling and going through.I don't want to be a spoiler... But this book made my heart pound and break. I laughed at some moments and found my self crying during others. I have already bought the 2nd book because I HAVE to know what happens next.

I clearly didn't read the description of this book - still haven't, in fact - because I totally thought this was going to be paranormal. Oopsy. This book is actually set in the early 1940's in Colorado and Bakersfield, California. I did correctly guess that this book would center on young love, but I grossly underestimated the sex scenes. Like, grossly. The estimation, not the actual scenes.Sarah and Will are the main characters, and the story is told from a 3rd person POV. Pacing is on the slow side, but I think it's fitting for the book. Timeline does jump forward a bit so you're not stuck with farming talk the entire book. The storyline does seem realistic in that the characters suffer from realistic problems...and the two main characters do seem like your typical young lovers. All in all a good read for slow paced romantics. Book ends on a bit of a cliff hanger, so now my interest is piqued!

Sarah and Will, have been friends since they were small. Their families spent almost every day together. One day. Sarah and Will realize that they are much more than just friends. They promise each other that they will be together forever. Until that one day when forever ends...Sarah is informed by her parents that they are leaving Colorado and heading west to California. How will she live without him? He wonders how he can go on without her. This is a true, young love story. It reminds me of my first love and having to move away from him. It is as if Jacelyn Rye has written my story, and the story of many other women and their first loves.I was left wanting to know what happens and I cannot wait for the next book to find out more. Will their love stand the test of time? Or is it just a childhood crush being grown out of?
