What starts out as a kind of silly concept (a comic book writer's character comes to life looking for love) turns out to be a bit of a bait-and-switch for an ulterior story about coming to terms with life-changing events. It may be a bit heavy handed in the end, but it still makes some good points, and does so in an entertaining manner, especially when the hero Dark Hour's villain Devil Inside follows him into the real world. It never gets too serious in terms of the threat, but the concepts it pushes do have some heft to them. It makes for a pretty good self-contained story about responsibility, loss, and escapism. You just have to get through the first issue's somewhat embarrassing approach to women.

Reality Check was a pretty light hearted and fun read. Nice and short, not taking itself too seriously.

What happens when the super hero you created for your comic book, shows up one day and starts hitting on all the young women in town including the one you love and who dumped you to be with a self-centered egotistical self-made musician? A lot of action with comical (no pun intended) lines and nice illustrations make this a fun read that includes a bit of self-reflection and a solved mystery.
