The Mayonnaise Affair Reviews
This story made me bust a gut laughing. It's ludicrous and I think I'm a worse person for having read it. Also, I loved it. Story debauchery.
What a rook! My review of The Mayonnaise Affair is going to focus on value and pricing. It is not often I have to tackle this issue in a 'book' review but it is warranted here. The Mayonnaise Affair isn't even 20 pages long (19 by the count on my Nook and that includes cover, title and bio pages). All for a whopping 99 cents. I am not afraid to say it, I want my money back. The Mayonnaise Affair is really just a short story that belongs in an anthology or just put out for enjoyment on the author's blog. That would be a reasonable use for this story, but to have the gall to charge 99 cents for a story that is perhaps 6000 words? There are thousands of offerings out there for 99 cents with a lot better bang for your buck. Even the synopsis for this reads like this could be a fun novella type story. It's a ruse. The story itself, mediocre. The reasoning behind the protagonist having "The Mayonnaise Affair" is vague to begin with. If you take the reasoning you're to read into it still feels week. The ironic twist at the end is barely ironic. The graphic nature of the main characters lust for mayonnaise suggested in the title is barely explored and still done so without explanation so in the end it's all just gratuitous drivel.Do yourself a favor and save your dollar for something with more substance. The Mayonnaise Affair is nothing short of a complete let down on every front.
Great story! While this isn't quite laugh-out-loud, you'll definitely get a smirk plastered to your face for most of the read. The author does a great job at describing something utterly grotesque and stomach churning. There are two main characters, Ron and Strawberry. Ron is a celebrity of sorts, a famous personal trainer with a back story that makes him very likable. Strawberry is a prostitute. She is propositioned to do something rather unconventional by Ron. The title may or may not give it away. It's a quick, short read. I got through it in about twenty minutes. It's a fun read, as long as you aren't a prude....or hate Mayonnaise.
Very odd, but sort of entertaining. Very abrupt ending.
