Madeline Kennedy and Alyssa Summers, co-owners of an Interior Design company and college roommates from back in the day, are about to begin a journey that neither one will forget. A journey ending with murder and betrayal. Logan Summers, successful real estate mogul, is the epitome of tall, dark, and handsome as well as being eye candy for wife, Alyssa. But money and power doesn’t necessarily mean happiness. Starting plans for a new build will help keep him focused on reality instead of dreaming about the woman he really loves. Douglas Page could not be happier! Not only has he landed a new build contract but a past love has danced back into his life rekindling a flame he thought to be extinguished. Life is smiling down on Douglas and he will take it! Brian Evans has almost reached the “brass ring.” If he can keep the charade believable for just a while longer, life will be good, very good. Karma has taken an interest in these particular New Yorker’s lives and is about to shake things up. Which one will pull the trigger? Who is having the affair? And who gets to wear the Tiffany diamond? ...

This very short read was jam-packed and full of suspense, heat, intrigue and sweet moments. I'm normally not a fan of cheating (personal reasons), but Ms. Rodriguez pulled it off rather impeccably. I immediately fell in love with Madeline and her series of crappy relationships. Now enter her friend of 10 years, Logan. Yes, Logan may be married, but a series of events leads to his broken marriage, as well as him revealing his feelings. Add to their friendship, the undeniable chemistry that develops, the playful and witty moments, and mix it up with some suspense, for such a short story, it'll keep you riveted to the very end. Would I read more from Shaunna Rodriguez? You bet your butt I would!

Too short to expand much on the blurb. These four lives slam into each other more-so than they already were connected. Someone ends up with the "Broken Promise", but will everything just come out in the wash as they say? Sometimes we don't always make the best picks in our first try in adulting and those first adult relationships whether they be romantic or friendships aren't meant to last. Some people come into your life for a season and some people stay for the life of a tree, so the saying goes. It's up to Maddie to figure out who to keep and who to kick and soon. She doesn't need anyone leaving her life with her heart or her money.

What an interesting story, I really enjoyed it. There were plenty of surprise that kept me on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what would happen next. The characters were likable and relatable. I look forward to reading more from this author. I received a copy of this book from the author, my review has been voluntarily submitted.
